Burglars decamp with 6 kg gold, Rupees 15 lakh cash

Kurnool: Burglars struck at jewellery shop at Kovelakuntla and decamped with a huge quantity of gold and cash in the early hours of Sunday. According to Kovelakuntla SI Sridhar, P Anjaneyulu, a resident of Ammavari street, is a goldsmith and owns a shop in the town. 

He went to Hyderabad on Saturday to attend a family function. Burglars gained entry into shop by breaking open the doors and looted six kg gold and Rs 15 lakh cash. Anjaneyulu who visited the shop on Sunday morning was shocked to find the shutters of the shop broke and inside the shops, all the gold jewellery and articles were emptied from the racks.

“On receiving the complaint from Anjaneyulu, we immediately called the CLUES team and sniffer dog squad to detect the suspects. A case has been registered and investigation is going on,” Sridhar said.District SP Ake Ravi Krishna visited the scene of offence and enquired about the incident. He said special teams would be formed to nab the culprits.
