Man, with two kids, jumps to death in lake
A distressed man, along with his son and daughter, committed suicide on Tuesday night by jumping into Shamirpet lake on the outskirts of the city.
Hyderabad: A distressed man, along with his son and daughter, committed suicide on Tuesday night by jumping into Shamirpet lake on the outskirts of the city.
Forty-year-old Arjun, a resident of Rasoolpura near Begumpet in Secunderabad, reportedly left his house on Tuesday evening on his scooter.
He took along with him his son Dhanush, 10, and daughter Poojitha, 8, informing his household that they were going for shopping in view of the coming Bonalu festival.
However, since the trio did not return till late in the evening, attempts were made to contact Arjun on his mobile phone but it was switched off. Many attempts to contact him proved futile.
When his family tried to contact him again at around 11 pm, it was answered by the Shamirpet police, who asked the family to come to the police station.
When they went there, they were informed that the local people noticed the scooter parked near the Pedda Cheruvu (lake) and on searching the vehicle, the police found the mobile phone and responded to the call late at night.
On Wednesday morning the police found the girl Poojitha’s body floating in the lake and brought it ashore. Swimmers were pressed into service to fish out the bodies of the father and the son. The motive behind the triple suicide is being probed.
