Eight persons on Thursday were apprehended by the Rajendranagar police in three different cases including, looting of woman auto passenger, extortion and bike lifting.

Hyderabad: Eight persons on Thursday were apprehended by the Rajendranagar police in three different cases including, looting of woman auto passenger, extortion and bike lifting.

The police apprehended three persons on charges of looting a woman passenger. According to police, the three accused were identified as Md Ajju Khan (painter), Shaik Fareed (cooler mechanic) and Syed Mujeeb Hussain (fruit seller), all residents of MM Pahadi in Rajendranagar. The accused took a woman passenger to an isolated place near pillar no.208 of PVNR Expressway and robbed away her cell phone and handbag and fled from the scene.

They were arrested during routine police checking on Thursday in Rajendranagar. The police personnel stopped the auto and asked for vehicle documents, but the accused tried to escape. The police apprehended them and upon interrogation they voluntarily admitted of committing the robbery.

In another case an extortion gang was busted in which four of the accused were arrested from Shahin Nagar under Pahadishareef police station limits. During late night hours on September 10, the accused extorted an amount of Rs 10,000 from the victim, a resident of Attapur by threatening him. They also damaged his auto and fled away from the spot along with the stolen amount.

According to Rajendranagar police, the accused were identified as Shaik Irfan (24), Md Ghousuddin (20), Md Aleem (24) and Md Sahel (25). In another case a bike lifter who stole two bikes worth Rs 1 lakh at different places on the areas close to Ring Road was arrested. He was identified as Syed Amjad (31), labourer and resident of Dairy Farm, Rajendranagar.
