Hyderabad: Former Baseball coach of Osmania University was arrested by T,ask Force officials on Monday in drug peddling case. He is accused of selling the drugs including ganja and MDMA (ecstasy) to drug addicts in the city. According to police, Shashikanth Cherla alias Bobby (34), who was absconding from city and was running a tiffin centre in Kullu in Himachal Pradesh was arrested upon his visit to city. He is a native of Ganesh Nagar colony in West Marredpally. He was addicted to drugs while working as a baseball coach in Osmania University (2000-12).

He started buying drugs from suppliers in Secunderabad and later he himself began to peddling drugs in the year 2007. “He used to search for drugs by browsing internet and used to purchase MDMA drug, Cocaine, etc. by using ‘Tor Browser’. He was selling the same to drug addicts on higher rates to earn more money,” said P Radha Kishan Rao, DCP, Task Force.

He along with his friend Abhinav Mahender used to sell MDMA and other drugs to the drug addicts in city and some other locations. In the month of July, his friend Mahender was arrested in drugs case and sent to jail, while Shashikanth remained at large. “On credible information he was apprehended by West Zone Task Force team at Marredpally and handed over to Banjara Hills police station for further action,” added the official.
