Hyderabad: Upcoming Telugu comedian Vijay Sai committed suicide by hanging himself to a ceiling fan at his flat at Yusufguda here, the Jubilee Hills police on Monday said. A case has been booked against Vijay Sai’s wife Vanitha and two others for abetment to suicide, under Section 306 of IPC, following complaint from his father. Family members of the deceased alleged that Vijay committed suicide due to harassment of his wife Vanitha.
They said the couple had been quarrelling over personal disputes for some time. Family members and his friends said Vijay had not been coming out of his house for some days. The police said Vijay Sai lodged a complaint with them against his wife on December 9 alleging that she had taken away his car without informing him.
Apart from disputes with his wife, Vijay Sai was under depression due to lack of offers in the film industry. Vijay Sai acted in some films like ‘Bommarillu’, ‘Ammayilu Abbayilu’ and several other films. The cine industry condoled the death of the actor.
It is learnt that before resorting to the extreme step, Vijay took a selfie video making some sensational remarks saying his wife Vanitha alone was responsible for his suicide. In the video, he blamed Srinivas, a lawyer and C Sasidhar, a businessman, besides his wife for his suicide. The video was sent to his father by Vijay Sai, where he alleged that the trio harassed him.
He had stated that he came across Vanitha during ‘Wall Poster’ cinema shooting. He came to know about her real life after he had tied the knot. He alleged that his wife was being used by some industrialists for their business affairs. This led to disputes between him and his wife over her character. He also alleged that his wife prevented him to see even his daughter Kundana.
He further alleged that Vanitha was already married to one Ammi Reddy earlier. He came to know that Vanitha and her mother were in sex trade when he visited their native village. In the video Vijay Sai pleaded with his father to see that all those who were responsible for his death be punished. He wanted his father to bring his daughter Kundana from the clutches of his wife. The Jubilee Hills police registered a case and took up investigation. According to some sources, Vijay was neck-deep in debts after he had invested his money on a film project with a noted producer.
