Sangareddy: In a gruesome road accident, five youngsters travelling in a car were killed when the driver of the car lost control over the vehicle and rammed into an RTC bus near IIT-Hyderabad at Kandi village of Sangareddy on Friday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Mahesh (24), Narendar (28), Nagaraju (23), Venkat Reddy (25) and Kiran (23). While death was instantaneous for three of them, the other two died on the way to the hospital.

The youngsters, belonging to Sangareddy, were heading towards Zaheerabad when the incident took place.

Meanwhile, nearly 30 passengers travelling in the RTC bus involved in the accident also suffered minor injuries after the bus veered off the road due to the impact.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident took place when the car, in which five youngsters were travelling, rammed into an RTC bus after hitting the median. The driver of the car reportedly lost control over the vehicle and hit the median before colliding with the RTC bus.

The locals had a tough time in retrieving the bodies from the mangled remains of the car. Sangareddy SP Chandrasekhar Reddy rushed to the accident site and enquired about the mishap. After registering a case, the police sent the bodies to the government hospital at Sangareddy for post-mortem. Further investigation is on.
