Hyderabad: A 19-year-old girl suffered minor injuries after being allegedly attacked by an unidentified youth in Bholanagar, under the limits of Banjara Hills police on late Friday night.

According to police, on Friday night, Sunaina, a school dropout, was talking over phone at around 11:30 pm in her balcony, when four masked men entered her flat, and one of them attacked her with a knife. She suffered injuries on her palm and stomach.

The police said the victim lives with her mother, a house maid, on the third floor of the apartment, while her father, a migrant labourer, works in Mumbai at a construction site. She had to stop her education after 10th standard due to poor financial status of the family.

Speaking to The Hans India, Banjara Hills Inspector K Srinivas said, “With the preliminary inquiry, we suspect the offender as the ex-boyfriend of the girl. The suspect had moved to Bahadurpura and we are in a process to reach him. The girl did not identify the offenders as they were wearing masks. We are probing the case in all angles including whether the injuries were self-inflicted.”

There were no CCTVs installed in the nearest vicinity, but we are trying to get footage from nearby localities, he added.
