Learn Urdu in a jiffy!
There’s no denying that Urdu is one of the most captivating languages of our country loved equally by both Urdu speakers and non Urdu speakers. Most non-speakers express their desire to read this graceful language. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there was some way to learn this majestic language within a short span of time?

This has been made possible through the efforts of Sabiha Nasreen Quadri Shamsi. The eleventh edition of her book ‘Learn Urdu within Seven Hours’ aims at teaching Urdu script easy and quick. “As the title of my book goes, I can teach the language in seven hours.
Those ready to go an extra mile can learn it in merely four hours,” asserts Nasreen, Assistant Professor in Urdu, University College for Women, Koti. So far she has taught over 5000 youngsters who were not even familiar with the basic alphabet. To make it easier she has written the letters in English, Hindi and Telugu respectively.
“Anybody who knows one of the three languages can learn Urdu quickly. Each letter in Urdu takes different forms and shapes so I have left ample space for practice. Through my book I explain the script in distinct styles,” she elaborates.
The Urdu language is very close to her heart and so is the love for teaching. It was her father’s dream to see her as an Urdu scholar. So despite many hurdles and obstacles she never backed down. Right from completing her PhD to penning down her many books, she went through a lot of hardship.
“I’m a single parent to six lovely kids which is not easy.There were times when I had to take loans or sell my jewellery in order to get the books published. But the divine power has always been with me. As soon as my books were published they would all be sold out. Many say that my book is a wish- fulfilling book. Whoever invested money in the publication with a secret wish say that it got fulfilled,” she smiles.
In the coming month the eleventh edition of her book will be out. Nasreen says, “Once again I’m struggling for funds. I won’t let funds be a deterrent and I shall continue to make my contributions to the field.
