Srikakulam: Adoption of technology in farming and use of latest variety of seeds is essential to achieve bumper harvest, opined agriculture scientists. A two-day Zonal Research Extension Advisory Council (ZREAC) meeting was inaugurated at Naira Agriculture College here on Thursday.

The meeting is meant for discussion of achievements in previous season and adoption extended in technological advancements in next kharif in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts.Speaking at the inauguration session, Aacharya NG Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) director for research wing Dr N V Naidu exhorted the scientists to develop seeds which will be useful to farmers. Director of extension of technology wing of the ANGRAU, Dr K Raja Reddy advised agriculture scientists, officials and farmers to work together for better yield.

He also suggested that feedback from farmers on new variety of seeds and farm mechanisation are vital. Board members of the ANGRAU M Laxminarayana and Ch Ganapathi Rao explained about the extension of technology and new seed varieties for various crops in the ensuing kharif season in three districts by taking division wise climatic conditions into consideration.
