Power production at Kakatiya Thermal Power Project (KTPP) phase-II (600MW) situated at Chelpur in Ghanapuram of Warangal district has commenced on Wednesday.

Bhupalpally: Power production at Kakatiya Thermal Power Project (KTPP) phase-II (600MW) situated at Chelpur in Ghanapuram of Warangal district has commenced on Wednesday.
The KTPP Chief Engineer, A Siva Kumar, told the press persons here on the day that the production began with 102 MW of power generation during morning hours and it would reach to its peak load by evening.
The unit would be put under 72 hours of full load trial operation and later it would be declared for commercial operation. It might be noted that the KTPP-II with the installed capacity of 600 MW was synchronised in the last week of October with the grid in its full capacity and since then trial runs were being conducted.
The cumulative expenditure of the project was put at Rs 2,957.69 crores as on June 30, 2015.
The officials were planning an official commissioning of the project by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in January 2016.
The CM was expected to commission the project in the current month but the programme was put off due to local bodies’ MLC election.
