On the occasion of the forthcoming ‘World Water Monitoring Day’ on September 17, Dr Reddy’s Foundation (DRF), GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF), Yacht club of Hyderabad , the Public Affairs Section of the US Consulate and ICONART Gallery came together to celebrate the coveted day.

Curator, ICONART gallery, Avani Rao conceptualised the theme ‘Drop let, Art and Water’ to increase awareness towards saving Earth’s water resources through visual exploration by painting symbolic motifs connected to the importance of water as a life source.

“US Consulate approached me to spread the awareness to save water. When I pondered over it, I thought that it’s a good concept because the impact will be more related to water,” says Avani.

“Three artists, apart from I, Ramakrishna V, Pavan Kumar D and Sweta Chandra are participating in this show. We are working on Sail cloth presented by the Yacht Club of Hyderabad. We are using acrylic colours and painting four works. The remaining six will be painted by school children.”

“We are also designing stencils of life, flowers, plants, sunlight, water, fish which would be easy to paint for schoolchildren, she added.

“Children will paint on other six sail cloths under the guidance of these four artists on September 17th. The painted yacht sails will be set afloat in the Hussain Sagar for 10 days till September 27, 2016,” she shares.

Activity Venue: The Yacht Club of Hyderabad Jetty, adjacent to Sanjeevaiah Park.
