Nalgonda: Aimed at creating awareness among people about social service, restoring human values and oversee proper implementation of government schemes at grass root level, a new organisation, Citizen's Forum, has started its activities in the district.

The Forum, brainchild of Director General of Prisons Vinay Kumar, is putting all out efforts in bringing the good Samaritans of the society on to a common platform to achieve the common goal of carving out a healthy society.

In this connection, the respective Jail Superintendents and Sub Jail Superintendents of the district are taking initiative in forming district, mandal, gram panchayat and village committees with about nine to 20 members as per the convenience.

As per the structure of the Forum, persons having no political and criminal backgrounds are eligible to be part of the Forum.

The goals of the organisation are that no injustice should be meted out to weak and poor, all civil disputes and petty quarrels should be resolved through mutual arbitration, government welfare schemes should see cent per cent implementation including Swatch Bharat and Haritha Haram programme.

As per the guidelines of the Forum, the members of the Steering committee should meet weekly once, whereas group members should meet monthly once.

They are allowed to hold press meets to give information about the programmes of the organisation in order to encourage others join the Forum.

In this reagrd, DG of Jails created a State-level WhatsApp group with district core committee members to get information of the programs and also to facilitate the members to bring the issues to his notice which cannot be addressed at district-level.

Nalgonda District Jail Superitendent Dr DSrinivas speaking to The Hans India informed that following the directions of DG Jails Vinay Kumar, he formed a district committee with 45 service-oriented persons.

As a part of it, the Forum decided to clean Ravindra Nagar Park in Nalgonda town on New Year Day. Commited members of the Forum completed the task within 10 days.

“Earlier, the park looked like a dumping yard and now it is cleaned and ready for plantation,” he added.

He further informed that he appointed coordinators for Nakrekal, Kanagal, Chityal, Tipparthi, Nidmanoor and Mungodu mandals to spread the good work and encourage others.

Appointment of coordinators in remaining mandals would be completed by the end of this month to launch Forum's full-fledged activities, he informed.
