Snehitha cops come to rescue of women, girls in Suryapet
The Snehitha programme, conceived by District SP Parimala, aimed at protecting women and girls against the atrocities, has been giving good results since its launch on December 8, last year.

As a part of the programme, a Snehitha team with two women police constables on a bike move in towns and villages creating awareness on women safety and child protection, sensitising girl students on good and bad touch, receiving petitions at the door step of the women complainants who cannot come or hesitate to come to police station for filing complaints.
They also create awareness on women-related laws and women self defense techniques. Speaking to The Hans India, SP Parimala said Suryapet district was the first district in the State to form Snehitha police teams.
Since the launch of the programme, the teams have conducted 15 counseling sessions in the limits of Suryapet town, Suryapet rural, Kodad town, Kodad rural, Anathagiri and Chilukur police stations. They also registered five cases in this regard.
“As many as 10 Snehitha teams working effectively in the district to address the issues of women and girls,” the SP said.
