Khammam: Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao has expressed ire over the officials and the contractors for the slow pace of Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) canal works.

The Minister, who made a surprise inspection of canal works near Tirumalayapalem mandal headquarters on Tuesday, pulled up the irrigation department engineering officials and the contractors for showing lackadaisical approach in carrying out the canal works. He instructed them to expedite the works besides ensuring quality in canal works.

Later taking part in Grama Sabhas in Narsimhapuram and Keshavapuram villages, he said government which believes that rural development plays a great role in the State’s development was doing its best to provide infrastructural facilities.

Responding to the problems pointed out by the villagers, Tummala directed the officials to prepare proposals for the construction of a double road between Tallampadu and Kondapur. He told the officials to speed up the works of Rs 50 lakh protected drinking water scheme in the village.

Further, he directed the officials to release the pending payments to the beneficiaries of individual sanitary latrines.

DCCB chairman Muvva Vijay Babu, Khammam market committee chairman RJC Krishna, ZP CEO M Nagesh, R&B EE D Dhanunjaya, Khammam RDO Purnachander Rao and horticulture officer Srinivas among others were present.
