The members of District Mahila Congress celebrated International Women’s Day on a grand note here at Congress party office in Khammam on Wednesday. The celebrations were held under the leadership of the District Mahila Congress Committee President Bandi Mani.

Khammam: The members of District Mahila Congress celebrated International Women’s Day on a grand note here at Congress party office in Khammam on Wednesday. The celebrations were held under the leadership of the District Mahila Congress Committee President Bandi Mani.

Speaking on the occasion, Mani said it was the Congress that introduced 33 per cent reservations for women in Assembly and Parliament. She also advised the women to face all odds with courage and fight for their rights while playing a key role in all fields.

Asking them to fight against gender discrimination, she appealed to all the women to fight united against social evils like dowry and child marriages which are still prevalent in the society.

Later, the leaders of District Mahila Congress Committee felicitated the Principal of Vivekananda High School Vankalanak Sharada, Kanaka Durga and Krishna Kumari on the occasion.

Leaders of District Mahila Congress Committee Gandham Seetha Mahalakshmi, Chittarapu Narayanamma, Thota Damayanti, Maddi Indira, Anantha Lakshmi, Bandi Rama Devi, Banothu Vinoda, K Bhavani, Subba Lakshmi, Nirmala and Nagamani were present along with others.
