Nizamabad: District Collector Dr Yogitha Rana directed the officials concerned to take urgent steps and complete the construction of overhead tanks under the Mission Bhagiratha scheme. Addressing the mandal level officers through a video conference in the town on Thursday, she said that 463 overhead tanks were taken up for construction and 85 per cent of the work was already completed. She told the officials to complete the remaining work on a war-footing.

The District Collector said that if there was any land dispute or any non-availability of land, the mandal officials should take the help of the respective Tahsildars and resolve the issue. She said that the Assistant Engineers of the Rural Water Supply Scheme (RWS) should install the biometric machines for recording the attendance of the employees and they should prepare action plans for its installation. If they fail to do the same, disciplinary action would be taken against them, she warned.

Collector Rana said that construction works should begin on Saturday for those overhead tanks for which agreements have been made. She directed the officials concerned to issued show-cause notices to the assistant RWS assistant enginners of Bhimgal, Morthad, Kammarpalli and Navipet who failed to turn up for the video conference. She said that those RAW engineers who want to absent themselves must inform in advance.

She told the mandal level officers to take necessary steps to help the poor in irrigating their assigned waste lands so that they could sow crops on them. The revenue officials should also identify suitable lands for the poor.

The wild growth of bushes, trees and shrubs should be removed from such lands so that the poor could begin cultivation, he added. The assigned lands on various mandals like Jakranpalli, Bodhan, Kammarpalli, Munipalli, Amdapur and Navipalli should be made ready for cultivtion , she added.

District Collector said that demarking of the 22 acres of assigned land should be done in a week’s time. Joint Collector A Ravinder Reddy, DRDO Venkateshwarlu, Zilla Parishad chief executive officer Govind, ADA Majid and officials of Mission Bhagiratha were present.
