Techie cremated; kin attack wife

Bhongir: Tension prevailed during the funeral ceremony of deceased techie Gudur Madhukar Reddy, who committed suicide in US last week, at Ralla Jangaon of Yadagirigutta mandal on Tuesday, when his wife, Swathi, was attacked by Madhukar’s family members.

As soon as Swathi reached Madhukar Reddy’s house, relatives of the deceased attacked her alleging that she was responsible Madhukar’s extreme step. Later, Swathi and her mother approached Bhongir police seeking security and filed a case against the attackers. According to relatives of Madhukar Reddy, the techie went to US for higher studies 14 years ago and settled in Seattle.

Seven years ago he married Swathi of Maddeladevigudem of Bhongir and was blessed with a daughter Sharmishta. However, Madhukar never came to his native place Rallavagu after marriage.

The kin of the deceased alleged that Madhukar committed suicide unable to bear the torture at the hands of his wife. They further informed that the techie had sent an SMS to her mother asking her to forgive him.

Refuting the charges leveled by Madhukar’s kin, Swathi's mother, speaking to media, blamed Madhukar Reddy for the chaos in her daughter’s life and accused Reddy of torturing her daughter for the last few years.

Informing that she has all evidences with regard to Reddy’s suicide, Swathi’s mother said she had kept the issues under wraps keeping in view the future of her four-year-old granddaughter, Sharmishta.
