Kothagudem: With the southwest monsoon active over the deccan plateau and bringing heavy rains, all the major water bodies in the Bhadradri-Kothagudem district have received good inflows from upper catchment areas and are filled to the brim.

Taliperu and Kinnerasani, the two main projects in the district, are filled with flood waters. The gates of the Taliperu project, which is located in the Agency area near Charla, were lifted on Tuesday. Seven gates were lifted releasing 8,500 cusecs of water. Mallikarjun, Divisional Engineer of the Taliperu project said only seven gates were lifted out of 25 gates. The water level in the project was 72.80 meters, he added.

Following heavy rains in the catchment areas of Chhattisgarh and Charla forest area, the rain water reached the projects, he said. Similarly, Kinnerasani, which is located in Palvoncha, was also filled with flood water.

The water level of the project reached 397.80 ft. Meanwhile, the water level in Godavari is raising near Bhadrachalm slowly day by day.The present water level of Godavari is 12 ft at Bhadrachalam.
