45 cr sanctioned for Mid Manair evacuees

​Hyderabad: The State government has sanctioned Rs 45 crore for Mid Manair project evacuees as compensation to be paid for replacement and rehabilitation of people, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao said during a review meeting on the project works.

He asked the officials to immediately disburse pending bills and Rs 2 lakh amount to each household being displaced for the project.

Those vacating their houses should be given the amount without any delay, he said as part of regular review on the project. Basic amenities should be provided at Replacement and Rehabilitation colonies, he added.

The Minister said the government was planning to store 10 TMC waters in the project and bring under irrigation 80,000 acres.

He also discussed with the officials on the submersible villages and problems of displaced persons and progress of the project.

Keeping in view the irrigation of the lands, officials should prepare the canals to full extent by taking all measures. He also suggested continuous monitoring of the works of the project and rehabilitation steps.

There is no dearth of funds for clearing the pending bills on priority basis to the victims, Harish Rao said. Since the project is very important, the government was determined to extend all help to those getting displaced.

He also asked to give away compensation on a war-footing to those displaced persons. The officials should be more cautious that they should take further steps to evict the villagers from their houses as the project is likely to get 10 TMC waters any time, the minister said. Mid Manair is getting top priority as part of Kaleshwaram project, Harish Rao told the officials.
