Ichhoda (Adilabad): Mukhara (K) village, which is known as the second digital village in the State and fourth in the country, is now gaining appreciation from all sections of people for installing ‘Cashless Ganesh’ on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao too lauded the villagers through social media for their innovative ways of living.

The villagers unanimously installed only one Ganesh idol, that too a clay one, in the village. The village development committee (VDC) distributed clay idols to each family in the village. The committee has decided not to go for either DJ or music party on the day of idol immersion and they decided to take the idol in a procession with devotional songs and prayers.

Contributions to hundi are being made through e-wallet. Even the aged were trained in using digital transactions during demonetisation period.

VDC president G Subhash, speaking to The Hans India, said that Rs 2,240 has been credited so far into the hundi account from a total of 147 transactions.
