Students from Vignana Bharathi Institute of Technology (VBIT), Ghatkesar adopted a fun-filled method to raise funds to develop a village. This included organising a ‘box cricket’ tournament, ‘Bails Out’, which was held at the Government College of Physical Education, Domalguda recently.

The initiative was undertaken as part of their work for the city-based student-run NGO, ‘Street Cause’.VBIT also conducted events towards the improvement of the community, such as cleanliness drives, women empowerment and career guidance in government schools, painting and educational expos etc.

On the final day of ‘Bails Out’, the cash prize was handed over to the winners by former MP, Bandaru Dattatreya.

The event was coordinated by their president, Ch LV Sai Rohit who mentored the students towards growing together and working for the cause. “The students say they’ve got exposure to various things in life. It’s a boon to work with people of similar interests. They say as an individual you learn so many things, they’ve not only emerged as a strong team but have also developed as an individual,” informed Rohit.

“Cricket is one of the most played sport, so the event was a success as a lot of teams turned up and a very positive competitive spirit was in the air. The students were thankful to everyone who supported them,” he said.
