The Holding Hands Foundation (HHF) celebrated its first anniversary at Marriot Hotel recently. The NGO has created a place for itself now, the credit of which goes to Danish Khan, the founding director who is also a renowned actor, filmmaker and a social activist.

Speaking to The Hans India after the ceremony, Khan reminisced the beginning of HHF. “The idea came to me when I first visited an orphanage in Delhi where I found children craving for attention from people who are oblivious to their anguish, ordeals or sufferings. I never knew of this India before and I began to think of all those who are still struggling to lead their lives,” he says.

“With no support in the beginning and nobody showing any interest, thinking that it is government responsibility, the idea of HHF was almost stifled to death but I overcame the odds and set on my own and started promoting what it is doing or asking others to take part in the activities too using my fan follow medium,” beams Khan, albeit a little.

Ever since the establishment of HHF, the organisation has managed to grab attention of people around and helped in awakening them to the state of orphans in India. “I am doing everything on my own, but a little support is what I feel is required in order to reach out to more number of people and be able to help them lead a better life.

Here, help doesn’t necessarily mean providing money, it could be your time or act of spreading our message,” Khan remarks enthusiastically and with an unremitting demeanour.
