Bharatanatyam dancer Subhashni Giridhar gave excellent stage performance – Bhakthi Pravaaham at Ravindra Bharathi last week. She started with ‘Sri Ganapatini Raagam Sourashtram Taalam Aadhi’, composed by Sri Tyagaraja, followed by ‘Kaali Kavuthvam’ in praise of Goddess Kali.

It’s about Goddess Kali dancing in a forest near Tanjore. She concluded her performance with ‘Thirrupaavai’. Subhashni started learning Bharatanatyam from the age of 8;

she had trained in Thanjavur style of Bharatanatyam from the well known Gurus - ‘Kalaimamani’ late Guru AT Govindaraj Pillai and later on from ‘Kalaimamani’ late Guru TK Mahalingam Pillai and Guru Vasant kumar of renowned Sri Rajarajeswari Bharatha Natya Kala Mandir, Matunga.
