“Use technology; say a big no to shortcuts and have safety on top priority,” said N Madhusudana Rao, chief operations manager, South Central Railway (SCR) to trainees at the 44th annual day celebrations of Zonal Railway Training Institute (ZRTI) in Moula Ali on Wednesday.

Raising concerns over safety on Indian Railways, he called upon the trainees to avoid the easy route and follow standard procedures.

He reiterated to trainees to run trains with a single aim of taking passenger to their destinations.

P Ramesh Babu, principal, ZRTI presenting the annual report said capacity utilisation of the institute rose 65 per cent in 2015-16 and 81 per cent in 2016-17. During 2016-17 till November, 125 courses were conducted and 4,773 candidates trained.

Further, he stated that the institute is also catering to the training needs of other zonal railways too.

ZRTI has trained 151 probationary Assistant Loco Pilots (ALPs) of South East Central Railway, and this year till now 30 ALPs of East Coast Railway, 75 Ticket Examiners of Central Railway were trained.

P Ganeswara Rao, chief commercial manager, SCR presided over the function.

K Padmaja, chief transportation manager (General & Perspective Planning) and other officials, faculty members, instructors and trainees participated in the programme.
