Perhaps every urban household has an RO purifier these days in the belief that one is drinking safe and healthy water. But are you really? Perhaps every urban household has an RO purifier these days in the belief that one is drinking safe and healthy water. But are you really? On the eve of World Water Day the World Health Organization (WHO) has evidence that Reverse Osmosis (RO) water is not healthy unless it is re-mineralised and that the RO industry has been disseminating inaccurate information for years.

According to the research, the side effects of drinking RO water can lead to gastroenteritis, heart diseases, stiffening of muscles and tiredness. Research has also come to a conclusion that RO purifiers not only kill the bacteria but also reduce vital minerals.

The most neglected part in our daily routine is that only a few people care to take a check if the water they are drinking is the pure in the correct sense. The potential for hydrogen (pH) balance of our body is measured on a scale of 0 to 14 of which 7 being neutral, less than 7 being acidic and greater than 7 being alkaline.

On the eve of World Water Day, a city-based company Blue Water Alkaline Solutions is putting in efforts for providing clean and safe drinking water to people through its wide ranging products aimed at the goal of a healthy society. It is committed to redefine the day by holding demonstrations on how pure or safe is the drinking water available and what makes it safer.

Drinking mineralised, alkaline water is one of the easiest and best ways to add alkalinity to diet. The pH of the cola is between 2.8 and 3.2 but the kidneys cannot excrete urine that is more acidic than about 5.0 and in order to dilute this can of cola to an appropriate urinary pH, need to produce 33l of urine.

Speaking to The Local, founder of Blue Water Alkaline Solutions, Kalisetti Naidu said, “Over a period of time there has been a paradigm shift in lifestyle resulting in new ailments and health challenges. We hardly test our water whether it is acidic, neutral or basic in nature, drinking healthy water benefits and strengthens our immune system to fight with lifestyle diseases. The solution we provide is on natural re-mineralising filters and it has worked wonders and it is cost effective.”

“Your pH level impacts all of your body’s cells, tissues, glands, organs and organ system. Increasing alkalinity to 7.36 alleviates stress on the organ systems right down to the cell, helping to fight off illness and disease. Many people are choosing to consumer more alkaline foods and drinks to help their bodies maintain a healthy pH balance,” he said. “The WHO recommends consuming re-mineralised water for the maintenance of optimal health,” he added.
