A famous American artist, Duane Hanson had once said, “Art doesn’t have to be pretty. It has to be meaningful.” The art exhibition underway at State Gallery of Art, inaugurated by actor, social activist Amala Akkineni - ‘Art from the Heart’ will feature paintings by 36 artists.

Daira Art Gallery along with LEPRA Society is hosting this exhibition that features paintings by the likes of Thota Vaikuntam, Chippa Sudhakar, Damodar, Gouri Vemula, Laxman Aelay, Nagesh Goud, RajeswaraRao.
One of the participating senior artists from Delhi Sheila Makhijani shared her experience over a call. “I am basically a painter, but I do drawings in different medium. For me these are movements to go through every day. Makhijani's drawings have been said to be her ‘primary engagement,’ she works regularly in a range of materials, including painting, gouache, mixed-media, collage, and sculpture. “It depends on the work.
Sometimes it takes one day to complete my art works. ” she adds Her paintings and gouaches, often vividly coloured, feature webs of undulating, her works possess an energy and movement that seem to pulsate with life; each of her works creates its own world, as animate and as vivid as the one beyond its edges, playfully enticing the viewer into an exploration of the relationship among line, color, and space.
A highly skilled image maker Damodar Naya too sent in his work for the show. He had completed Bachelors of Fine arts and Masters from JNTU College of Fine Arts and has been traversing and touching many themes. In the current series, he used mediums like oil paint and acrylic colours.
He engages with the imagery of the Buddha and other spiritual iconography that has metamorphosed into decorative objects. The gloriously painted Buddha and Bala Krishna in metallic effects are strategically fused with the retro still life compositions, pointers of a shifting mindsets.
