With an aim to boost to local talent, the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) authorities are engaging budding architects for the designing and landscaping works at the Metro stations. In this regard, HMR will give each metro station to one architect.

HMR MD N V S Reddy said that the Metro Rail project is being built as a ‘Transit+’ urban rejuvenation system with last mile connectivity for a seamless travel providing comfort, convenience and safety for women, children, senior citizen and others. “Once complete, the project would transform the city into one of the most preferred global cities, boosting economic growth and attracting investments, jobs and talents,” he said.

Reddy said that each Metro Rail Station would have vibrant urban redesigning and rejuvenation along with a wide and spacious green belt. In addition, the MD said that there would be art spots near the Metro Stations, where people would be given opportunities to showcase their talent in painting. “A public art spot has been proposed at Miyapur Metro Station,” he said.

The architects would also be designing the skywalks under the Metro viaduct. The MD said that the HMR had already done urban rejuvenation works at Metro stations such as plantation on central median between Uppal and Nagole, pedestrian facility and landscape at Uppal etc.

This is not the first time that HMR has given opportunities to raw talent. In the past, to encourage the new generation, the authorities had organised a competition for the landscaping under the Metro Rail viaduct in which one Rohit Andrade of Bangalore was given a cash reward of eight lakh rupees.
