All of 19, city-based model, Harshit Maheshwari is going places. He recently won the title ‘Mr India - Star Life 2017 First Runner-Up’ in New Delhi. Harshit is currently pursuing Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Amity Global Business School.

Speaking about his passion towards modelling he shares, “I was passionate about modelling since my childhood. I started learning when I was in Class VIII from Lakhotia Institute of Art and Design. There I learned basic ramp walk, however, I discontinued it because of my board exams. After that, I made my portfolio in 2015 and started doing fashion shows and photo shoots.”

Harshit states that his only struggle in the field was to get his body into shape. “When I started I weighed around 85 kgs, and through smart training and a clean diet I lost around ten kilos and got a proper runway model physique. I didn't face any major struggle from family because my parents were always supportive.”

Sharing about the Mr India competition, Harshit says, “It all started on March 4, when I got a call from Bharat Adnani (coordinator) to give an audition for Star Life Mr India 2017. I was excited about it, as it was an opportunity to participate in the national pageant.

My audition was overwhelming. After two weeks, I got a call again from Bharat and he informed me that I have been selected for the pageant which will be held in New Delhi on June 5.”

“Hemant Garg, CEO of Star Life; Khizar Hussain, the show choreographer, and Raghav Kadam, the mentor, guided me throughout the journey to win the title,” he adds.

Harshit informs that the title was a learning experience as he had to contest with 31 models from pan-India. “We had regular grooming classes for three hours by Khizar Hussain. Yoga, and gym sessions for two hours in the morning, and had rehearsals till 3-4 am. It was one of the best learning experiences we had.”

“I firmly believe that your only limit is you, so make yourself an inspiration and you need to push yourself from the "Comfort Zone" to achieve realistic goals. It will pay you with infinite results. Your actions will make the noise,” shares Harshit.

About his future plans, he says, “I will be preparing for the upcoming shows and will represent Hyderabad on greater platforms. The struggle for the next trophy is on.”
