Encouraging Swachh initiatives with awards
The concept of Swachh Awards to hotels, hospitals, residential colonies and others was widely appreciated. City Mayor Bonthu Rammohan gave away the ‘Hans India Smart Society’ awards to the winners at GHMC Auditorium on Wednesday.

While the initiative was appreciated by people, participation of The Hans India as the media partner was also seen as a big push to the nationwide Swachh Bharat programme.
GHMC officials admitted that the campaign would not have attracted the eyeballs without the support of media. About 45 awards were given under five different categories. Hospitals, Hotels, Schools, Residential Associations and Markers were the selected ones across the city zones.
Awarded hoteliers, hospital managements and others were excited to be recognised by the civic body. Attendees wished that the programme must continue to make stakeholders participate in the Swachh Hyderabad programmes in the coming days.
