Many people appreciated this move and said that it was a very contentious issue plaguing the society for a long time. In fact, the decision was taken by the city police based on the frequent complaints by the people.

Police has restricted the use of swords or any sharp weapon during the marriage processions besides the use of high volume bands creating nuisance during the night time.
People now believe that it would definitely give a relief from the noisy and deafening marriage processions in coming days. Police has formed Baraat Squads to restrict the hazardous weapons during marriages and use of high volume bands.

Elderly persons are the most affected section of the sound pollution created by the Baraats in old city. Small streets echo the sound and it becomes harsher for the ears.
A retired town planning engineer from Jahanuma, Muneerul Haque said that Baraats have been the part and parcel of Hyderabadi weddings for a long time however the current Baraats have become more of a nuisance.

He said that people were not considering the impact of their noisy aprocessions and disturbing hundreds of people during nights. It is like snatching the freedom of maintaining silence during the night, he lamented.

Abdul Aziz of Naqeeb e Millat Welfare Society said that anything for the common good was appreciated and reining in the Baraat processions was surely a great step. Celebration looks good at prima facie however it has a dark side wherein many people get affected, he said. Many people from old city now want the police department to implement this strictly.
