Budget does not benefit ryots, says Rythu Sangham
A roundtable conference convened by the Rythu Sangham in Sundarayya Vignana Kendram on Friday concluded that the State Budget claimed by the government to give pride of place to agriculture by allocating Rs.12,000 crore does not benefit farmers. Speakers stated that there was a huge variance in the Budget figures and those listed in the Governor’s address to the joint session of the legislature.
Musheerabad: A roundtable conference convened by the Rythu Sangham in Sundarayya Vignana Kendram on Friday concluded that the State Budget claimed by the government to give pride of place to agriculture by allocating Rs.12,000 crore does not benefit farmers.
Speakers stated that there was a huge variance in the Budget figures and those listed in the Governor’s address to the joint session of the legislature.
This showed the government’s attitude towards agriculture. They pointed out that the Budget proposals should yield four per cent growth rate in agriculture, as stipulated by a committee. ‘This is missing in the Budget’, they stated, while claiming that the government appeared to be confining itself to only land surveys. ‘There is more publicity in its activities and lack of follow-up action’, the speakers stated.
The conference called for agitation until the Budget is revised to announce a specific allocation to agriculture. It decided to submit representations to all legislators. Among the participants in the conference were Kisan Sangh national leader Malla Reddy, Sagar, Prasada Rao, former MLA Yadagiri Rao, Prasad.
