Medak: Medak unit of Telangana Praja Front (TPF) on Wednesday lambasted the TRS government for not keeping its word of poll promises during Assembly elections.

Speaking at the District Executive Committee meeting here, State Secretary of TPF R Nagabhushan said the ruling TRS party after it came into power, had failed to fulfill its poll promise of free distribution of 3 acre land for Dalits in the state. If anyone raises their voice against the government, the ruling party has been suppressing them by foisting false cases against them and putting them in jail.

In the name of Revenue lands updation and purification, the state government was forcefully resuming the assigned lands from the poor farmers mainly from Dalits who were assured of free land distribution before elections. Eventually, the TRS government is stonewalling the implementation of land distribution for Dalits on the pretext of unavailability of land, alleged the Front. District President of TPF Ramesh Goud said farmers in the areas of Ramayampet, Nizampet, Chegunta, Shankarampet and Shivampet mandals faced loss in their crops due to scant rainfall resulting in the dried crops.

The government should provide compensation at least Rs. 50,000 per acre for dried crops for the forlorn farmers who are in hopeless situation and also the government should take necessary steps to curb the suicides of the farmers by giving assurance of sufficient sources for the farming in the area, he demanded.
