Koti: Members of the Government Doctors’ Association staged a demonstration in front of the Directorate of Medical Education on Wednesday demanding immediate withdrawal of GOs 21 and 22 on service quota for them.

They warned that if the GOs were not dropped within two days the distribution of KCR kits would be stopped. The agitating doctors set fire to the effigy of Karunakar Reddy, Vice-Chacellor of Kaloji Narayan Rao Health University for allegedly misleading the government. They wanted the PG in-service reservations to be discussed thoroughly before doing away with the earlier 30 per cent clinical and 50 non-clinical quota.

They contended that the GOs would deprive the in-service candidate of the opportunity to pursue PG study. The doctors wanted the government to re-consider the issue and not to discourage them as they have been implementing all its schemes. They wanted the government to reconsider its stand and not to link PG in-service quota with marks. The doctors demanded filling of PG seats in clinical and non-clinical wings with service quota. If this demand was not accepted they warned that of they would be forced to go on strike. Among those who took part in the protest were association president Praveen, general secretary Ramesh, Lalu Prasad.
