Hyderabad: An apple a day keeps the doctor away, so goes the saying but if someone wears a new pair of shoes and socks every single day for seven consecutive academic years can catapult them to fame and a slew of awards. Asifa Quadri, 24, who completed her MBBS, had worn a new pair of shoes and socks every day to school for seven years between June 16, 1997 and June 14, 2003.

This brought her a lot of fame and the organisations that bestowed her with awards decided to hold a presentation of shoes and socks on Friday. All the shoes were brought from Bata company. Dr Aleem Quadri, her father says, “Bata Company is showing interest to set up a museum and exhibit shoes and socks. We have preserved them in good condition.” Asifa says, “My mother Arshia Aleem made me wear the school uniform, shoes and socks regularly without fail. She also acknowledged her father who is part of a family of osteopaths that treated more the 4 million patients since 1935.

The family has also preserved the bills. For the 7 academic years she had worn the black and white shoes of different sizes ranging from No 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 1, 2. This was according to the growth of her foot and various sizes of white socks ranging from No 2-No 4 amongst them white socks worn of size No 2 are 500 pairs, No 3 are 295 pairs and No 4 are 456 pairs.

Former Police Commissioner of Hyderabad, Ramulu in his valuable message acknowledged that even rich and effluent people cannot pursue the fancy of purchasing shoes and socks every day without a break.

Asifa Quadri created a unique world record through her multifold projects, which was reviewed by many books of world records including Limca Book of Records for five consecutive years. Dr Manish Vushnoi, Asia head, Golden Book of World record. Dr D Vasudha Rani, judge of Asia and India book of records, Dr C Arun, national coordinator, Assist World Record were present on the occasion.
