Karimnagar: Unidentified persons hacked a shepherd to death and seriously injured another by attacking them with axes in the forest area close to Shabhashnagar village of Malhar mandal in Karimnagar district in the early hours of Tuesday. According to Manthani Circle Inspector Ramesh, three shepherds Encharla Polaiah, Bheemaraju and Appala Pochaiah belonging to the village had taken a flock of sheep to the nearby forest for grazing on Monday evening.
After keeping the sheep in a pen, they consumed liquor heavily and slept close to the pen. However, Pochaiah found Polaiah’s body lying in a pool of blood and Bheemaraju in a serious condition in the morning. He did not find the flock in the pen. He immediately rushed to the village and alerted the locals. The injured was admitted in a hospital and his condition was stated to be critical. The police suspect that the victims might have been attacked by the miscreants when the duo tried to prevent them from taking away the sheep. The CI visited the spot and collected details.
