Following the schedule of water release to left canal, the water was released to the canal in first phase for irrigating crops in the ayacut. As many as 84,000 cusecs of water would be released till January 2, 2017 in first phase. There are 2.3 lakh acres of ayacut in Zone-I in Nalgonda district and 1.2 lakh acres of ayacut in Zone-II in Khammam district.

Nalgonda: Water to left canal was released from Nagarjuna Sagar Project’s two zones on the basis of on and off system by project SE Narasimha on Thursday.

Following the schedule of water release to left canal, the water was released to the canal in first phase for irrigating crops in the ayacut. As many as 84,000 cusecs of water would be released till January 2, 2017 in first phase. There are 2.3 lakh acres of ayacut in Zone-I in Nalgonda district and 1.2 lakh acres of ayacut in Zone-II in Khammam district.

Farmers of the district expressed their happiness over the release of water to Left canal. At present, the project has 156.66 tmcft of water at a level of 524 feet.
