Kothagudem: Communist Party of India (Marxist) organised a massive rally here on Friday demanding that the TRS government implement the promises that were made during the 2014 elections.

CPM state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram, Tripura MP Jitendra Choudhury, Bhadrachalam MLA Sunnam Rajaiah, CPM leaders Potineni Sudarshan Rao, Kasani Ailaiah and others participated in the massive rally which culminated in a public meeting.

Addressing the massive public meeting, Jitendra Choudhury said that the BJP at the Centre and the governments of the two Telugu States were making attempts to drive out the girijans from the forest forcibly.

He said that nobody has the right to drive them out from the forest. He alleged that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has conveniently forgotten the promises that he made to the people before coming to power. He warned the government that there would be an agitation on a massive scale if restrictions were imposed on podu cultivators.

Veerabhadram demanded immediate construction of double bedroom houses and distribution of three acres of land for each Dalit family. He said that they could not be intimidated by the police and officials. He suggested to the Chief Minister to study the Forest Rights Act and allot ten acres of forest land to the each tribal family.

He alleged that crores of rupees were being misappropriated in the name of Haritha Haram and growing of trees.

“The government which has been driving the girijans out of the forest has allocated thousands of acres of land to the corporate houses,” he alleged.

He warned that they would occupy the government lands if the poor were not provided with 2BHK houses. He justified the strike by the Singareni workers stating that demanding hereditary employment was just and fair.

In his address, Sunnam Rajaiah deplored that the girijans were being forcibly evicted from the forests. He appealed to the people not to be afraid of government tactics and assured them that he would take up the issue in the State Assembly.
