Mandamarri: The 10-lakh-litre capacity overhead drinking water tank built here with Rs 1 crore HUDCO funds to cater to the drinking water needs of the people of Mandamarri has remained ornamental as the civic officials haven’t completed the pipeline works.

The town with 13 wards has a population of about 3,4,11,12. As a result, supplying Godavari River water to the residents of the town through taps remained a dream.

Apart from suffering drinking water supply once in two days, the town people are suffering from other problems. The development of the town municipality took a back seat as the civic body is devoid of a new governing body. They lamented that the officials are not bothered to complete the pipeline works. According to a resident, Sotuku Sudarsan, they have been waiting for Godavari water supply through taps for several years. Saying that they are purchasing mineral water bottles, he said that it was high time the officials started the pipeline works.

Another resident, Tirupati complained that there was no use building the overhead drinking water tank, which was built two years ago. Alleging that the officials and contractors were benefited from the tank works execution of the drinking water tank, he appealed to the local people’s representatives and complete the pipeline works.
