The strike by TSRTC employees from June 11 is likely to be total with Telangana RTC JAC of eight unions deciding to support the strike call given by the recognised Union TMU.
Hyderabad: The strike by TSRTC employees from June 11 is likely to be total with Telangana RTC JAC of eight unions deciding to support the strike call given by the recognised Union TMU.
The JAC leaders found fault with the TMU leaders declaring that they would go on strike without consulting the other workers unions in the RTC. JAC convener E Raji Reddy said, it was not proper for the TMU leaders to say that there was no need for a JAC.
He said, keeping in mind the interests of the workers, the JAC has decided to support the strike call. However, he found fault with the unilateral decision of TMU leaders to declare strike date. The workers would go for strike against the negligent attitude of the management from June 11.
The JAC leader said that the government should decrease the diesel burden on the Corporation and provide minimum salary of Rs 24,000 to the staff. The diesel prices have increased several times but the government has not allowed the corporation to increase the fares leading to losses, he said. He said that the workers would protest with red badges at depot offices on June 7. Later, on June 8, 9 and 10, there would be awareness campaign on educating the workers on the need for going on strike.
JAC joint convener K Hanumanthu said that the recognised unions instead of doing politics should concentrate on protecting the rights of the workers. The government should intervene and take steps to avoid strike. The government should provide salaries to the employees during the period of ‘Sakalajanula Samme’ during the Telangana movement.
JAC co-convener V S Rao alleged that the workers are put to a great loss because of the unilateral decisions of the TMU leaders. The recognised union had failed even to mobilise the support of the workers for the strike, he alleged. Because of the pressure from the workers, the TMU has declared to go on strike, he said.
Meanwhile, the Labour Commissioner has invited the workers union leaders for talks on June 8. He has invited the TMU, JAC leaders for talks. The Joint Commissioner and conciliation officer E Gangadhar would be holding meeting with the unions at 4 pm on June 8 at T Anjaiah Bhavan, RTC Cross Roads.
