Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday has written a letter to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and RBI Governor Urjit Patel seeking the immediate release of Rs. 5,000 crore currency to meet the needs of the people in the state.

Chandrababu said that the people in AP were dealing with issues due to the shortage of cash for the last few days with ATMs running out of cash.

Most of the banks in the state are not able to issue the money demanded by the account holder while ‘No cash' sign boards are set up at all the ATMs.

Reminiscing the demonetisation days when people had to wait before ATMs in long queues where all sections of people were affected due to the shortage of cash, he requested the RBI to release the adequate quantity of currency.

Having made the similar request to the regional officials of RBI, the Chief Minister also advised them to send denominations of large and small.
