Tirupati: The officials at the Alipiri checkpost, the gateway to the holy Tirumala hills, arrested a person for possessing an illegal weapon. During the routine checks, they found that a person identified as Pani from Odisha was in possession of an unlicenced gun. The gun was stached below the steering wheel. The officials also recovered two bullets from him.

Pani is from Bhubaneswar and has several cases booked against him in Odisha. He has since been arrested the weapon and the bullets have been seized.

There are at least two past instances where guns were recovered from the possession of pilgrims. In both the case, the pilgrims were from North India. Pani too is from Odisha.
