Mumbai: Eminent journalist, author and thinker Muzaffar Hussain, known for his strong views on Muslim politics, passed away on Wednesday. He was 78 and was ailing for a long time. The end came at the Hiranandani Hospital in Vikhroli suburb of Mumbai.

Muzaffar Hussain, a polyglot, hails from Madhya Pradesh, but settled in Mumbai, where he was into literary and media pursuits. He was conferred PadmaShree in 2002 and with Lokamanya Tilak Jeevan Gaurav award for journalism by the government of Maharashtra in 2014.

Known for his strong views, Muzaffar Hussain came into contact with the RSS and has written extensively on pro-Hindutva issues. He was a regular columnist in several languages.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis offered condolences at the demise of Hussain. He said in a tweet: "Saddened to know about the demise of PadmaShri Muzaffar Hussainji. We lost a spirited nationalist, noted columnist & a very good friend. My deepest condolences to his family, friends & followers.”
