Boath (Adilabad): Local legislator Bapurao Rathod handed over cheques to 71 beneficiaries of Kalayana Lakshmi Scheme and Shadi Mubarak Scheme here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said Telangana government was the first in the country to introduce these schemes. The aim of these schemes was to enable the poor women belonging to scheduled castes and minorities to get married, he added.

Cheques worth Rs 36,21,000 were disbursed to the 71 beneficiaries with each getting Rs 51,000. Local people’s representatives and officials were present on the occasion.
