Nizamabad: Very soon, LED lights will be shining brightly in Nizamabad city replacing the ordinary streetlights. This was stated by the Municipal Commissioner Venkateshwar Rao in the town on Monday.

Speaking to the media, he said that the EESL organization has already carried out a survey in the city in this connection. He said that this was done to reduce the power bills in the city, which is now Rs 25 lakh. The EESL would supervise this for the next seven years, he added.

The Municipal Commissioner said that this was the first time modernisation of lighting was taking place on such a large scale.

Those cities that were not selected as smart cities would be selected under the category of green cities and the State government would release Rs 100 crore for its development, he added.
