In a thrilling commencement to the third Dr Emily Emanuel Inter-School basketball tournament at the St Andrews School courts, and what comes as a vibrant advertisement for age-group basketball, boys from Future Kids School staged a magnificent recovery to turn the tables against Delhi Public School, Hyderabad in their round-robin showdown on Thursday.
In a thrilling commencement to the third Dr Emily Emanuel Inter-School basketball tournament at the St Andrews School courts, and what comes as a vibrant advertisement for age-group basketball, boys from Future Kids School staged a magnificent recovery to turn the tables against Delhi Public School, Hyderabad in their round-robin showdown on Thursday.
Trailing 6-19 at half time, the eventual winner gathered momentum thanks to Akhil and Mahanith, who got into the act and sealed the fate of the comfortably placed opponents with a 56-52 verdict. Earlier the tournament was inaugurated by international hoopster Prudhvishwar Reddy, reminding the youngsters of the tournament, which was where he gained competitive spirit, exhorted them to aspire for the highest ,kevels of the game.
Meanwhile, the DPS girls compensated well while scripting a lopsided 36-10 win over St Pious School, who were nowhere in the match. The host had good tournament openers when both their boys and girls scored comfortable first round wins over MGM.
