Hyderabad: The Premier Badminton League (PBL) is back with its edition and so are the franchises that will be upping their stakes with an eye on the pie. In keeping with this quest to strike form and perhaps go several notches above the showing in the first two seasons, Hyderabad Hunters torch-bearers are all keyed up for a much improvised performance after the third edition gets going in Guwahati on Saturday.

A sense of optimistic self-belief and a new-found enthusiasm was clearly evident when the team management, some of the players and coaches interacted with the media here on Tuesday.

On the face of, they are strongly placed having retained the crème de la crème-Olympic champion Carolina Marin and Singapore Open Super Series titlist and World No 17 B Sai Praneeth.

Oozing with confidence was the head coach J Rajendra Kumar, who is betting big on his wards to deliver in the hour of reckoning. He singled out Marin, Praneeth and Lee Hyun to bear the brunt with Rahul Yadav and doubles combination of Satwik and Markis Kido doing their bit for the team.

In what comes as music to the ears of the aspirants, Team owner VRK Rao informed that they would be conducting ‘Junior Hyderabad Hunters’ tournament that can serve as the perfect platform for young shuttlers to make the higher grade. Some of those short-listed would be provided coaching in the Hunters Academy that is proposed at Gandipet.
