Tirupati: SV University Vice-Chancellor A Damodaram on Saturday said that the games and sports will invigorate the mind and body and helps to keep fit.

Speaking at the concluding ceremony of South India intervarsity tennis tournament held at SVU tennis court, the VC said “it is the responsibility of players to spread the importance of sports to younger ones in making a healthier society and thereby a healthier nation.”

He said these tournaments would provide a platform for meeting people of different regions, the VC mentioned.

Damodaram informed that Sri Venkateswara University is advancing in academic activity by securing ranks in national and international levels and striving hard to improve further academically.

“We are taking steps to renovate the indoor and outdoor stadiums on par with international standards. And planning to develop sports infrastructure and gym with modern facilities to the needs of student’s community and staff members,” he said.
University of Madras won the tennis tournament. More than 220 players, 90 managers and coaches participated in the tournament.
