Vijayawada: With the introduction of latest technology in the field of medicine, surgeries are performed with more accuracy, said joint replacement surgeon Dr M Surendra Kumar at a seminar here on Saturday. The new generation doctors have to use technology in surgeries like joint, knee and hip replacement, he suggested.The seminar was jointly organised by Vijayawada Orthopedic Society and Sunrise Hospital.

The chief guest of the seminar was Dr Nicholas JA Tulip from Netherlands. He said that with the use of advanced technology i.e; Guided Personalised Surgery (GPS), the surgery would be more accurate, durable and long-lasting. He said the world’s advanced technology GPS was introduced at Sunrise Hospital, he added.

Speaking at the seminar, Dr Surendra Kumar said that by using the latest technology, GPS joint replacement surgeries were performed in one hour with 100 per cent accuracy and the patient can stand up on his or her feet in 24 hours after the surgery, he added.

He said that GPS technology would be available to all the people of Andhra Pradesh through Vijayawada Orthopedic Society and Amaravati Orthoplasty, he added.A primary knee operation was held live at the seminar under the guidance of Dr Nicholas. About 200 doctors attended the seminar, including Dr N Jagadish, Dr Bejawada Papa Rao, Dr ML Naidu, Dr M Srinivas and other famous surgeons, were present.
