The bug is also affecting macOS, tvOS 11 and watchOS apart from iPhones which means MacBooks and Apple Watches are also vulnerable to the bug.

Acknowledging the bug, Apple stated that it is working to fix the issue for the iOS 11, the macOS High Sierra, watchOS 4 and tvOS 11 versions.

  • This Telugu letter character is pronounced a 'gya' or 'Gna/gnya'
  • Any app the character is displayed in gets crashed and becomes unworkable.
  • Message, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Gmail, Twitter are being affected due to the character
  • If the character is sent and is received in a notification, the situation on the iPhone gets worse for the user as the iPhone's entire Springboard can get blocked.
  • The Mobile World website suggested the users who face this situation not to restart the device as it will boot loop.
  • Apple has already fixed the issue in the current beta versions of the operating systems.
  • Apps like Telegram and Skype are unaffected by the bug
  • Earlier in 2015, Marathi string also resulted in iPhones crashing.
