Hyderabad: Nayani Narasimha Reddy, the Home Minister in Telangana state cabinet, and Ramulu Naik, TRS politburo member have been appointed as MLCs by the Telangana state Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan. KCR, the Chief Minister of Telangana has sent the concerned file to the appointments to the Governor recently.

After the Governor’s approval, the ibid file concerning the two appointments has now been sent to Chief Electoral Officer for notification. Nayani Narasimha Reddy, who was included in the Cabinet, is not a member of either Legislative Assembly or Legislative Council. As per rule, a minister should become an MLA or MLC within six months of induction into the Cabinet if he or she is not elected or nominated.

From the other end, Ramulu Naik, who tried for ST ticket, failed to get it and he was promised MLC ticket by KCR, at an earlier instant. Also, Karne Prabhakar, a politburo member of the TRS, is also likely to be nominated as MLC soon in the Governor’s quota.

After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesg, the Telangana state got 40 MLCs comprising 14 elected through local bodies, 14 from MLAs quota, six under Governor’s quota, and three each in graduates and teachers constituencies.
